What Is a Monitrice?
A monitrice is a unique type of labor support professional who blends the emotional and physical assistance of a doula with the clinical skills often associated with a midwife. As your monitrice, I offer the best of both worlds—continuous, compassionate support alongside skilled, evidence-based care designed to keep you informed and empowered throughout your birthing journey.
Whether you’re planning a VBAC, hoping to labor at home before heading to the hospital, or want reassurance that you’ll know when it’s truly time to go, Marigold Birth Services offers calm, confident guidance every step of the way. My goal is to help you feel safe, supported, and deeply connected to your birth experience.
Serving families throughout the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia and nearby Virginia I provide holistic, heart-centered monitrice services rooted in trust, safety, and respect for your birth preferences.
What’s Included in Monitrice Care
You’ll receive everything included in my Birth Doula Package, plus enhanced clinical care tailored to your needs.
Prenatal Support (in-office visits):
Comprehensive childbirth education
Fetal position assessment and belly mapping
Fetal heart tone checks
Monitoring of maternal vitals
Guidance for nutrition, supplements, and gentle herbal support
Labor Support (in your home):
Continuous emotional and physical support during early labor
Fetal heart tone and maternal vital monitoring
Cervical dilation and station checks (if desired)
Peaceful, grounded encouragement to help you stay calm and confident
Smooth transition to your primary provider’s care when appropriate
Postpartum Support (three in-home visits):
Lactation or bottle-feeding support
Maternal and newborn wellness checks
Newborn weight tracking
Keepsake birth certificate with your baby’s footprints
Additional support as needed
